Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (贵州中医药大学): Programs and Teaching Language for International Students

Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (贵州中医药大学(Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)) is a TCM-focused university in Guiyang. The Guizhou international admissions brochure (《贵州来华留学招生简章》, produced April 2026) lists 11 program entries for international students at bachelor's, master's and non-degree levels. Most are taught in Chinese. The short medical training course is taught in Chinese with classroom translation into English and other languages.

About the university

The university was founded in 1965 and is located in the Huaxi University Town, Guiyang, Guizhou Province. It describes itself as a TCM-centered institution with supporting disciplines, offering bachelor's, master's and doctoral training. It is a key university supported by Guizhou Province and jointly established by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Guizhou Provincial People's Government. It was renamed Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2018. In October 2021, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved it as a doctoral degree-granting institution, with doctoral authorization in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica and Chinese Medicine.

The brochure's program table does not list any doctoral programs for international students. If you are considering a doctorate, ask the university directly whether it is open to international applicants.

The brochure labels the third column 招生数量 (enrollment quantity), but the entries in that column are study durations. The brochure does not give enrollment numbers for any program, so do not read the column as seat counts.

Teaching language

Ten of the eleven entries are taught in Chinese. The short-term medical training course (短期项目进修(医疗)) is listed as Chinese, with classroom translation into English and other languages. If you do not speak Chinese, check which language your intended program uses and whether you will need to reach a Chinese language level before enrolling.

What to confirm with the university

The brochure does not state tuition, scholarship amounts or application deadlines. Check these with the university before you plan your application. The official notices from the International Education College or the International Exchange Office on the university website (http://www.gzy.edu.cn) are the current source.
